On the number of Mather measures of Lagrangian systems

چکیده
In 1996, Ricardo Ricardo Mañé discovered that Mather measures are in fact the minimizers of a ”universal” infinite dimensional linear programming problem. This fundamental result has many applications, one of the most important is to the estimates of the generic number of Mather measures. Mañé obtained the first estimation of that sort by using finite dimensional approximations. Recently, we were able with Gonzalo Contreras to use this method of finite dimensional approximation in order to solve a conjecture of John Mather concerning the generic number of Mather measures for families of Lagrangian systems. In the present paper we obtain finer results in that direction by applying directly some classical tools of convex analysis to the infinite dimensional problem. We use a notion of countably rectifiable sets of finite codimension in Banach (and Frechet) spaces which may deserve independent interest.

The Symmetries of Equivalent Lagrangian Systems and Constants of Motion
In this paper Mathematical structure of time-dependent Lagrangian systems and their symmetries are extended and the explicit relation between constants of motion and infinitesimal symmetries of time-dependent Lagrangian systems are considered. Starting point is time-independent Lagrangian systems ,then we extend mathematical concepts of these systems such as equivalent lagrangian systems to th...
متن کاملSymplectic Field Theory Approach to Studying Ergodic Measures Related with Nonautonomous Hamiltonian Systems
An approach to studying ergodic properties of time-dependent periodic Hamiltonian flows on symplectic metric manifolds is developed. Such flows have applications in mechanics and mathematical physics. Based both on J. Mather’s results [9] about homology of probability invariant measures minimizing some Lagrangian functionals and on the symplectic field theory devised by A. Floer and others [3]–...
متن کاملTwo Remarks about Mañé’s Conjecture
In this note we consider an autonomous Tonelli Lagrangian L on a closed manifold M , that is, a C2 function L : TM −→ R such that L is fiberwise strictly convex and superlinear. Then the Euler-Lagrange equation associated with L defines a complete flow φt on TM . Define Minv to be the set of Φt-invariant, compactly supported, Borel probability measures on TM . Mather showed that the function (c...
متن کاملMather problem and viscosity solutions in the stationary setting Diogo
In this paper we discuss the Mather problem for stationary Lagrangians, that is Lagrangians L : R × R × Ω → R, where Ω is a compact metric space on which R acts through an action which leaves L invariant. This setting allow us to generalize the standard Mather problem for quasi-periodic and almost-periodic Lagrangians. Our main result is the existence of stationary Mather measures invariant und...
متن کاملAubry-mather Theory for Multi-dimensional Maps
In this paper we study a discrete multi-dimensional version of Aubry-Mather theory. We set this problem as an infinite dimensional linear programming problem and study its relations to Monge-Kantorowich optimal transport. The dual problem turns out to be a discrete analog of the Hamilton-Jacobi equations. As in optimal transport, Monge-Ampére equations also play a role in this problem. We prese...
